Churches, shrines, works of art, places where you can read inside all the love of the creator. Here is the religious itinerary to live with the eyes of faith as a pilgrim and as hikers, immersed in cultural contexts where art and nature are intertwined in a pure emotional bond.
The Cathedral and its towers
Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015, it is one of the most important monuments of Norman Sicily. Visit its interior, walk through the entrance aisle and be enchanted by the vision of Christ Pantocrator, with his dazzling colored tiles. Here you will contemplate the true beauty!
After you will continue the visit to the towers with their particular architectural structure. There will be many steps to climb but once at the top you will love the view that will give you a unique image of the medieval district of Cefalù, with its small windows and red roofs.
End your visit at the Canonical Cloister, a jewel where time seems to stand still. The silence and magic of these places, even more beautiful if visited at night will be balm for the Spirit.
Santuario Maria SS di Gibilmanna
In Gibilmanna, at almost 800 meters above sea level, stands the sanctuary dedicated to SS. Virgin, Patron of the diocese of Cefalù.
It is said that the deep devotion to Our Lady of Gibilmanna led the bishop Don Gioacchino Castelli to solemnly crown the Virgin and the Child Jesus with crowns received from the Vatican: it was on August 15, 1760.
The participation of the people at the celebration was great and it seems that a mortgage and a blind man managed to regain their speech and sight respectively. The statue of the Madonna with the child, attributed by several scholars to Antonello Gagini, is enchanting inside the sanctuaries.
Here you can breathe an atmosphere of great charm where the silence is broken only by the singing of birds and the sound of bells.
